Answer:
The MG emplacement on this spot has some supernatural aiming ability, and can inflict a lot of damage to you in a short span of time. You'll just have to shoot blindly at the top-left area of the lead building on the way in and hope you get some lucky shots at the gunner or the barrels near him; otherwise, just reload your game and try again.
